Presentation on Next-Gen Web Techniques

Thanks to all who attended my presentation on Next Generation Web Development Techniques at SARK.  We talked about web layout with CSS (and not tables), Javascript, MochiKit, and AJAX.

It was my first attempt at speaking, and I feel that it went pretty well.  If you attended, I’d love to hear your feedback here.  I did hear from a couple people that a talk on just CSS for layout would be popular.  I’d definitely consider this.

As promised, I have uploaded the complete files from the demos here for you to download.

Great presentation. All my web development from this point forward will be a quest for TABLE-lessness.

Fantastic job. I thoroughly enjoyed your presentation. I plan on looking more into Mochikit and other easy Javascript UI libraries. Especially free ones.

And being an 'ie-lover' I have not changed my mind on the browser. Sorry. ;) Why? Microsoft = IE and .Net = Microsoft therefore .Net = IE :D

But again, great job.

Excellent work! I really enjoyed the presentation. I never knew that 'LemonChiffon' was such a beautiful color :) Great presentation, and thanks for posting the presentation files.

Ryan: Yeah... I that LemonChiffon comment probably should've been kept to myself (as Aaron Murrell mentioned)

Thanks for your nice comments!

Jonathan:

Why does it matter that ".NET=IE" ?

The only sites that I even go to that don't work well in IE are MSDN, Outlook Web Access, and Sharepoint (notice a pattern?)

Anyway, even for those sites I can use the "Right-click -> View in IE" plugin for firefox works well, as well as "Always View this Page in IE" for permanent switching. I've also heard good things about IETab, where IE rendering is loaded inside of a tab of firefox. (I'm not sure about memory consumption here though)

Great presentation! More CSS would be great because I've always done HTML layout with tables. I knew of CSS but never learned to use it effectively.
