Hug Your Dog Today

My heart sank last week.  Our dog, Molly, was hit by a car…

She was chasing after our other dog (a puppy) and crossed a busy road.  We got the call and picked her up from a nice gentleman that kept her cool in his car (the Texas heat is around 100° F outside).

She had a nasty laceration on her head and a bunch of scrapes and cuts.  Molly had been rolled under a car and obviously suffered a large blow to the head.  We rushed her to the Emergency Animal Clinic of Houston and they took her in.  There was blood all over my car and my shorts.  We were in complete shock.

Until this moment I didn’t realize how much Molly really meant to me.  She was always a great dog and I loved her, but I didn’t take the time to pet her everyday and spend some time with her.  My wife and I were pretty shaken up at the thought that she had almost died.

Our children were nearly devastated.  None of us could believe that we almost lost her.

Molly was treated with 6 staples to her head-wound.  We picked her up the next day.

Her handkercheif reads “They saved my life at the Animal Emergency Center of Houston.”

She is still a little skiddish, but she has quickly returned to her normal self and we love her.  Take the time to hug your dog today.  Show them that you appreciate them.

Hey Ben, I'm sorry to hear about what your dog and your family had to go through the last few days. Luckily, however, everything turned out well and Molly will be ok.

I'm a dog lover myself and volunteer frequently for the Texas Lab Rescue (www.txlabrescue.org).

I have a 7 year (well, he'll be 7 on the 23rd of this month) old black lab named Gage. I've had to take Gage to the 24-HR Vet Emergency Hospital before, so I know how traumatizing it can be...especially on your wallet!

Gage is spoiled as spoiled can get. He even has his very own website, www.gagedog.com. What can you expect from a dog whose owner is a developer? I created it a long time ago and really haven't put much time or thought into putting anything up on it besides his picture/logo. But, after hearing your story, I'm motivated to work on it and add some content. (Btw, it is PRE your CSS class so don't give me slack about the Fireworks generated tables , I'll fix that soon !!!).

PS: One of my good friends owns a pet food distributing company. He sells only healthy whole foods for dogs and cats like Innova and Evo. I'll have to hook you up with some FREE doggie treats and food.

Yeah, no kidding about the cost. I'm considering getting doggie insurance :)

Hi Ben, as you know every moment is precious with man's (and family's!) best friend. Continue to cherish every moment! I'm so glad to hear everything turned out well in the end.
Paul
